Club World Cup 2025: Fixtures confirmed for African representatives Al Ahly, Wydad, Sundowns, and Espérance

Al Ahly find themselves battling pressure and setbacks as they prepare for their fifth-round Egyptian Premier League encounter with Pyramids next Saturday.

What should have been a focused build-up has instead been clouded by doubts, absences, and nerves.

A source revealed to Kooora that Spanish coach Jose Riveiro has grown more anxious after facing heavy criticism following the recent draw with Ghazl El Mahalla. His position has not been threatened officially, yet he is now working under the weight of fear and distraction.

“There are no plans to let Riveiro leave, regardless of the outcome of the Pyramids match, but the coach has begun to become preoccupied with matters outside the field and training, which could affect his focus,” the source added.

The squad list adds to the challenge, with at least six players ruled out. Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Shukry, and Yassin Marai are sidelined by injuries, while Marawan Attia, Imam Ashour, and Ahmed Abdelkader are unavailable due to technical reasons. Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane and Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed are also awaiting medical tests to confirm the extent of their setbacks.
