Injury blow for Al-Ahly as Egyptian international Emam Ashour ruled out of Club World Cup

Al Ahly has decided to put the extension of midfielder Emam Ashour’s contract on hold, preferring to direct attention to players whose deals are running out soon.

A source from Al Ahly’s football department confirmed to Kooora that there is no truth in reports suggesting a shift of responsibility from sports director Mohamed Youssef to new football director Walid Salah El Din. The source explained that Salah, as first-team manager, naturally manages player files in consultation with Youssef.

“There is strange talk that the matter has been transferred from Mohamed Youssef, the sports director, to Walid Salah El-Din, the new football director, indicating Youssef’s failure.”

“This is absolutely untrue. Walid Salah is the first-team manager, so any file related to the team is in his possession, but he handles it in consultation with Mohamed Youssef.”

Club president Mahmoud El Khatib has chosen to temporarily close the Ashour case, noting the player still has three years left on his deal. Instead, Al Ahly will prioritize finalizing renewals for Aliou Dieng, Hussein El Shahat, and Ahmed Nabil Kouka.
