Al Ahly stands firm behind Jose Riveiro despite fan frustration
Al Ahly has moved to silence speculation over the future of Spanish coach Jose Riveiro following a frustrating draw against Ghazl El Mahalla in the Egyptian Premier League.
A source from within the club told Kooora that Riveiro’s departure is not being considered despite the noise surrounding recent results. “Al-Ahly tied two matches and won one, but Riveiro is staying, and Al-Ahly doesn’t evaluate results in this way,” the source said.
The official stressed that emotions from supporters are understandable, with the club always expected to win, but management is looking at the bigger picture. “Public anger is normal, especially given the constant desire to win, but the management is evaluating in general,” he noted.
The source also pointed out that issues on the pitch extend beyond the coach. “If the coach is average, as some claim, then there is also a crisis in the performance of some players who have not performed as expected so far.”
Ribeiro’s position, the club insisted, is not tied to the upcoming clash with Pyramids, with no meetings planned to question his role.
