Fabrizio Romano has revealed the behind-the-scenes details of Egyptian talent Hamza Abdelkarim’s proposed move from Al Ahly to Barcelona, confirming that the deal is currently on hold.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said Barcelona have entered advanced talks with the 17-year-old forward, who is showing a clear desire to join the Catalan club, with wearing the Barça shirt described as his main dream.
Romano explained that the biggest obstacle is Al Ahly’s stance, as the Egyptian club has not yet given final approval because of its financial demands, which has effectively frozen negotiations for now.
Barcelona’s management is working to find a compromise that satisfies all parties in order to complete the transfer in the coming period, as the club is convinced of the youngster’s technical potential.
Previous Spanish reports indicated that Barcelona plan to add Abdelkarim to the reserve team initially, as part of a long-term strategy to recruit promising youngsters and gradually develop them within the club’s structure.
