After crashing out of the African Champions League, Al Ahly have decided to slow down on key contract talks and focus on bigger decisions first.
The club’s leadership has put a hold on announcing new deals for Mohamed El-Shenawy, Yasser Ibrahim, and Ramy Rabia.
The trio had agreed to fresh contracts last week, and the club planned to reveal the news after the Sundowns clash. However, the disappointing exit, following a 1-1 draw in Cairo after a goalless first leg, has fueled anger among fans, forcing a change of plans.
A source from Al Ahly told Kooora: “It was planned to announce the renewal of the trio’s contract after the Sundowns match, which was held last night after they were officially signed last week.”
The source added that the club now sees other matters as more urgent, mainly the future of head coach Marcel Koller and his staff.
“All files related to any negotiations, new deals and signings will be put on hold until the position of the new coach is finalised.”
