Al Ahly have poured cold water on claims of financial conflict surrounding Aliou Dieng’s contract renewal, reassuring fans there’s no tension between the club and the Malian midfielder.
The Egyptian giants told Kooora that they’ve already met with Dieng to discuss extending his stay, but the midfielder preferred to wait until the team’s Tunisia camp wrapped up before making a final call.
“Dieng did not make any financial demands, but only asked for some time during the preparation period before making his final decision,” a club source clarified.
Contrary to reports suggesting contract hurdles, the club emphasized Dieng’s professionalism and commitment.
The source added, “He’s one of the most committed players on the team, and has never caused any problems since joining Al Ahly.”
Dieng, who recently returned from a loan spell with Saudi side Al-Kholod, featured for Al Ahly in the FIFA Club World Cup and remains an important piece in the squad.
Al Ahly’s calm stance suggests they believe Dieng’s future still lies in Cairo, even if a decision takes a little longer than expected.
