Al Ahly set to offload Angolan winger Ailton Camoes as club reviews foreign players ahead of summer window
Al Ahly SC have reportedly begun reviewing the status of several foreign players in the squad as part of early preparations for the upcoming summer transfer window and plans to reshape the team ahead of next season.
The club’s football management, in collaboration with the technical staff, is currently assessing the performances of players who joined the team on loan to determine whether they should remain at the club or depart once their loan deals expire.
Al Ahly have already taken a decision regarding Angolan winger Ailton Camoes. The Egyptian giants have reportedly agreed not to activate the purchase option in the player’s loan contract when the deal expires at the end of the current campaign.
The decision means Camoes will leave the club this summer, with Al Ahly satisfied with allowing the loan spell to conclude without pursuing a permanent transfer.
The source indicated that both the football department and the technical staff believe the player has not met expectations since arriving at the club. Following a comprehensive evaluation of his performances, the club concluded that his technical level has not been sufficient to secure a long-term place in the squad.
Strong competition within the team and the club’s ambition to strengthen the foreign players’ quota were also cited as key factors behind the decision.
As a result, Camoes is expected to become the first foreign player to depart Al Ahly during the upcoming summer transfer window, with the club preparing to make adjustments to its roster in order to bring in players capable of making a greater impact.
The move reflects Al Ahly’s ongoing efforts to maintain a highly competitive squad as they continue to challenge for domestic and continental honours.
