Al Ahly have opened the door to selling midfielder Imam Ashour in the summer transfer window, but only under very strict financial conditions.
According to Africa Foot, relations between the club and the Egyptian international have noticeably cooled in recent weeks, prompting the board to consider offers for him.
Last week, Ashour was fined around 1.5 million Egyptian pounds (about 30,000 dollars) and suspended for two weeks after skipping Al Ahly’s trip to Tanzania without permission, where the team faced Young Africans in the CAF Champions League. A subsequent meeting between club officials and the player ended with a preliminary agreement to allow him to move abroad, provided any bid meets Al Ahly’s demands.
The club will not entertain offers below 12 million dollars, as they still view the 27-year-old as a key pillar of their sporting project. The board has also made clear they do not intend to sell him before the 2026 World Cup, unless a proposal arrives that fully matches their valuation this summer.
Tension has been fuelled by Ashour’s request for a major pay rise to match teammate Ahmed Sayed Zizo, whose annual salary exceeds 1.3 million dollars, while a Saudi club has already submitted a lucrative offer and is waiting on developments.
