Al Ahly set sights on Senegal’s Mamadou Lamine Camara

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have shown serious interest in signing Senegalese midfielder Mamadou Lamine Camara from Moroccan side RS Berkane ahead of the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old midfielder has impressed since joining RS Berkane in 2022.

His consistent performances and leadership in midfield have drawn attention across Africa, especially after his crucial role in helping the club win the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

Camara has already made more than 100 appearances for the Moroccan outfit, becoming one of their most reliable players in domestic and continental competitions.

His technical quality, stamina, and ability to control play have made him a vital figure for RS Berkane and a standout talent in the Botola Pro league.

His performances did not go unnoticed on the international stage either. Camara earned a call-up to the Senegal senior national team and made his first start in a friendly against Ireland, showcasing his composure and strength in midfield.

His growing influence earned him the award for Botola Pro’s Best Foreign Player for the 2024–2025 season.

Al Ahly view Camara as a long-term solution for their midfield and are eager to add his energy and vision to their squad.

The Egyptian club is now waiting for final approval from head coach Jess Thorup before opening talks with RS Berkane for a potential transfer.

Camara remains under contract with Berkane until June 2026, but Al Ahly’s financial strength and continental ambition could speed up the negotiations.

After a failed move to Stoke City last summer, this opportunity could finally offer the young Senegalese midfielder the move he has long desired to a top-tier club with continental pedigree.

If the deal materializes, it would mark another major step forward in Camara’s promising career.
