Egyptian giants Al Ahly are ready to make history as they kick off their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
The much-anticipated opener marks the start of the tournament’s first-ever 32-team format, running from 14 June to 13 July in the United States.
Al Ahly’s squad touched down in Miami on Thursday, bringing with them a 25-man team brimming with experience and talent. Key names include Mohamed El Shenawy, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Ashraf Ben Chergui, and Mohamed Magdy Afsha, among others.
The club will later be joined by key midfielders Wissam Abu Ali and Aliou Dieng, who are expected to bolster the side ahead of the tough group fixtures.
Grouped in Group A, Al Ahly face a challenging lineup with Inter Miami, Brazilian side Palmeiras, and Portuguese outfit Porto. The Cairo club will be looking to start strong and carry Africa’s hopes on the global stage as they aim for a deep run in the expanded competition.
