In a moment that revealed true sportsmanship, Al Ahly SC extended heartfelt support to Egyptian football legend Hassan Shehata, who recently underwent emergency surgery.
The club shared a touching message alongside Shehata’s photo on its official social media page, writing simply: “Hassan Shehata… Get well soon.”
The 75-year-old former national team coach, revered for guiding Egypt to three consecutive Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008, and 2010, remains a symbol of pride across the nation.
News of Shehata’s health condition was first shared by former Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan, who announced that Shehata had been rushed into surgery due to a sudden medical problem.
While Al Ahly quickly acknowledged the situation with grace and respect, their rivals Zamalek SC, where Shehata spent much of his playing and coaching career, remained silent. The club has yet to release any statement or show public support during the difficult time for their former icon.
