News of Shehata’s health condition was first shared by former Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan, who announced that Shehata had been rushed into surgery due to a sudden medical problem.
While Al Ahly quickly acknowledged the situation with grace and respect, their rivals Zamalek SC, where Shehata spent much of his playing and coaching career, remained silent. The club has yet to release any statement or show public support during the difficult time for their former icon.
