Al Ahly have wrapped up a major summer move, confirming the sale of Palestinian forward Wessam Abu Ali to American side Columbus Crew in a deal that marks one of their most high-profile transfers this window.
The Cairo giants completed all procedures smoothly, with Abu Ali passing his medical and the final paperwork approved between both clubs. His departure comes after weeks of behind-the-scenes talks that saw some friction over finances before a resolution was reached.
An Al Ahly source revealed to Kooora that while there were earlier disagreements over the fee, both parties eventually found common ground.
“Al-Ahly will receive $7.5 million for the player’s sale, in addition to $1 million in bonuses for the first season, along with a 10% share of any future resale,” the source said.
Abu Ali’s rise in recent seasons made him a fan favorite in Cairo, and this move opens a fresh chapter for the striker in Major League Soccer, while also boosting Al Ahly’s transfer budget.
