Al Ahly reveal four absences ahead of key match against AS FAR
Ahly announced that four players will miss the upcoming trip to Morocco for Friday’s clash against AS FAR in the CAF Champions League group stage.
Team doctor Ahmed Gaballah confirmed keeper Mohamed El-Shenawy suffered a grade-two adductor strain during the last match against JS Kabylie and will miss out. Ahmed Abdelkader faces a partial hamstring tear, while Mohamed Shokry sustained a mild calf muscle injury each will follow individualized rehabilitation before rejoining the squad.
Winger Hussein El-Shahat is also out, as he continues rehab until month’s end and is excluded from the squad for the Arab Cup in Doha. Meanwhile, Ahmed Sayed Zizo is expected to travel with the team after rest and clearance from medical checks.
Ahly won their last match against JS Kabylie 4-1, displaying dominance with goals from Trezeguet, Mohamed Sherif, and Emam Ashour. The team travels via a special flight to Rabat for two training sessions before the big match, with manager Jess Thorup holding technical briefings and highlighting performance improvement and team unity.
