African giants Al Ahly have departed the United States of America en route to Egypt after exiting the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at the group stage.
The most successful club in Africa played their last match at the tournament against FC Porto on Monday, June 23.
With the game ending 4-4, Al Ahly finished fourth in Group A and thus failed to advance to the knockout stage of the tournament.
Today, the club has left the USA and is expected to arrive in Egypt in the next few hours.
“The club’s first football team delegation has just departed JFK Airport in the United States, en route to Cairo, following the team’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup,” Al Ahly confirmed in an official statement on their website.
Meanwhile, head coach Jose Ribeiro has given the team an 18-day break before resuming for pre-season.
“The team’s technical staff, led by Jose Ribeiro, decided to give the players an 18-day break from training,” the club statement confirmed.
