Al Ahly are wasting no time in reshaping their squad following their early exit from the Club World Cup, with a bold overhaul already in motion.
Club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib is set for a decisive meeting with head coach Jose Riveiro once the team returns from the United States. The squad is currently en route to Cairo on a 22-hour flight, following their elimination from the tournament.
Riveiro, who granted his players an 18-day break before resuming training on July 13, will present a detailed technical report alongside sporting director Mohamed Youssef. The document will evaluate the team’s recent campaign and outline the requirements for the upcoming season.
A source confirmed that 11 players are on the departure list, including veterans Ali Maaloul and Amr Al-Suliyah, who have been officially thanked. Contracts for Akram Tawfiq, Hamza Alaa, and Yahya Attia, on loan from Russia’s Sochi, will not be renewed.
Youngsters Samir Mohamed, Karim Nedved, Mohamed Daoui Christo, Reza Salim, Omar Al-Saie, and Mohamed Yasser are all expected to leave on loan deals.
