Al Ahly midfielder Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” was substituted at half-time against Petrol Asyut after reporting minor pain in his calf, the club’s head of medical staff Ahmed Gaballah said.
Al Ahly are facing Petrol Asyut at Al Salam Stadium in the Egypt Capital Cup, with Omar El Saai coming on for Afsha at the interval.
“Afsha complained of slight pain in the calf muscle, so the technical staff preferred to substitute him at half-time to avoid aggravating the injury,” Gaballah said through Al Ahly’s media centre.
Afsha had opened the scoring in the third minute after a mistake by the Petrol Asyut goalkeeper.
Al Ahly were leading 3-0, with two goals scored in the first half and another added after the interval.
