Karim El-Debes extends Al Ahly stay

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have secured the long-term future of young defender Karim El-Debes after reaching an agreement to extend his contract with the club.

The Red Eagles are continuing their efforts to maintain stability within the squad by renewing the contracts of key players whose current deals are approaching expiration.

Karim El-Debes has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at the club until the 2029/30 season.

The renewal represents Al Ahly’s confidence in the young defender’s abilities and his potential to play an important role in the team’s future plans.

El-Debes recently returned to Al Ahly after spending last season on loan at Ceramica Cleopatra, where he gained valuable first-team experience and continued his development.

Following his return, new head coach Hussein Ammouta decided to include the player in his plans for the upcoming season, viewing him as an important option in the squad, particularly as competition increases for the left-back position.

The decision to retain El Debes comes after the club also strengthened that area with the arrival of Youssef Belamri. However, Ammouta believes the young defender can provide quality depth and compete for regular playing time throughout the season.

Al Ahly’s decision to secure El Debes’ future forms part of a wider strategy to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts. The club has placed significant emphasis on keeping promising talents while also adding experienced players to maintain a strong balance within the team.

The Cairo giants are currently preparing for the new campaign and are scheduled to travel to Spain on Thursday for an overseas training camp as part of their pre-season preparations.

The camp will provide Ammouta and his technical staff with an opportunity to assess the squad, improve fitness levels and develop tactical understanding between new signings and existing players.

One of the major highlights of Al Ahly’s preparations will be their prestigious friendly match against Spanish giants Barcelona on August 19 at Camp Nou in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

The fixture will serve as a major test for Al Ahly ahead of the new season, with the club aiming to be fully prepared for challenges in domestic competitions and on the African stage.

With Karim El Debes now tied down until 2030, Al Ahly have taken another important step towards building a squad capable of maintaining their dominance and competing for more trophies in the years ahead.
