Al Ahly receive boost as Yasser Ibrahim nears return from ankle injury
Al Ahly have received a major boost with defender Yasser Ibrahim making significant progress in his recovery from an ankle injury and edging closer to a return to team training.
The experienced centre-back has entered the final stage of his rehabilitation programme after removing the cast that was placed on his foot as part of his treatment.
Yasser suffered a sprain to the medial ligament and a tear in the lateral ligament of his ankle, forcing him to undergo a period of rest and treatment while his foot was immobilised.
He has now moved into the next phase of his recovery, undergoing rehabilitation exercises under the supervision of Al Ahly’s medical team.
The programme is designed to restore the normal movement of his ankle while gradually improving his strength, fitness and physical readiness before he returns to full training.
Yasser is expected to join group training within the next week, although the medical staff could bring forward his return if he responds positively to the rehabilitation programme and does not experience any pain or complications.
His progress will be closely monitored by both the medical and technical teams, particularly with Al Ahly preparing for their highly anticipated Egyptian League clash against Zamalek.
The Cairo giants are hopeful that the defender can complete his recovery in time to give the coaching staff another option at the back for the important fixture.
However, his participation against Zamalek will only be determined after the medical team assesses his physical condition and confirms that he is ready to return to competitive action.
Yasser’s return to group training would represent an important boost for Al Ahly as they prepare for a demanding period, with the club eager to have one of their experienced defenders available for the crucial derby.
