Al Ahly has taken a firm stand after its recent league match with Pharco, filing an official complaint against referee Mohamed Marouf.
The Cairo giants believe the official’s actions in Friday’s 4-1 win at Cairo Stadium unfairly disrupted the flow of the game and cast doubt on the treatment of their players.
A source told Kooora that the complaint focused on two key incidents. Al Ahly stressed the team had no reason to waste time while comfortably ahead, and that Mohamed Hany’s substitution was carried out correctly. He passed the captain’s armband to a teammate and walked off without delay or offensive remarks, contrary to the referee’s decision to stop play.
“Al-Ahly has requested the intervention of the head of the referees’ committee regarding what happened, especially since there is great astonishment at the actions of referee Mohamed Marouf.”
The Red Devils urged the Egyptian Football Association’s Referees Committee to review the match tape and demanded that Marouf not officiate their future fixtures. They also promised to provide video evidence to strengthen their case.
