Egyptian football giants Al Ahly have taken disciplinary action against midfielder Emam Ashour after a heated altercation with team captain Mohamed El-Shenawy.
Reports suggest the incident occurred during the match against Stade d’Abidjan, where Ashour, who remained an unused substitute, reacted angrily to El-Shenawy’s attempts to calm him down.
The disagreement escalated into a confrontation before teammates and sporting director Mohamed Ramadan intervened to defuse the situation.
In an official statement, the club announced that Ashour would be required to train separately from the team until he apologizes to both his teammates and the coaching staff.
Additionally, the player has been suspended and fined one million Egyptian pounds for his conduct.
Al Ahly, reigning African champions, are set to return to action on Sunday evening when they face Al Ahly Bank.
