Al Ahly provide injury update on Karim El Debes ahead of ZED FC clash

Al Ahly defender Karim El Debes is receiving treatment for a hamstring strain, while team-mates Mohamed Abdallah and Ahmed Khaled Kabaka continue their rehabilitation programmes, club doctor Ahmed Gaballah has confirmed.

The update came as Al Ahly returned to training on Tuesday evening at the مختار التتش Stadium in Gezira, beginning preparations for their second Egyptian Premier League match of the season against ZED FC.

The players had been given Monday off after Al Ahly opened their league campaign with a 3-2 victory over ENPPI. The result marked their second successive win against ENPPI, following a run of five consecutive matches in all competitions without a victory over their opponents.

Gaballah said on Al Ahly’s official website: “Karim El Debes suffered a hamstring strain during the match against Eastern Company ENPPI.”

He added: “El Debes has started a physiotherapy programme to prepare him to return to training as soon as he is ready.”

The club doctor also provided an update on the two other players who are currently unavailable.

“Mohamed Abdallah continues his physical rehabilitation after suffering ankle pain, while Ahmed Khaled (Kabaka) is doing rehabilitation exercises after suffering pain in the anterior muscle,” Gaballah said.

The club did not give a specific timetable for any of the three players to return to full training. El Debes has already begun treatment, while Abdallah and Kabaka remain involved in separate rehabilitation programmes as Al Ahly prepare for their next league fixture.

Al Ahly’s victory over ENPPI was particularly significant because it followed a difficult start to the match. The team recovered after falling two goals behind, completing a comeback that secured three points and moved them into the group of leading sides in the competition.

It was also the first match in charge for Al Ahly manager Hussein Ammouta. His side’s response after conceding twice provided a winning start to his tenure and ensured Al Ahly began their title campaign with consecutive victories.

Al Ahly will face ZED FC on Friday in the second round of the Egyptian Premier League. The match will be their next opportunity to build on the comeback win over ENPPI, although the fitness of El Debes, Abdallah and Kabaka will remain a point of attention before kick-off.

On the same day, ENPPI will host Wadi Degla.
