Al Ahly has taken a bold step just days before the new Egyptian Premier League season begins, urging the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to reveal the financial obligations of all participating clubs.
The call, spearheaded by club president Mahmoud El Khatib and his board, comes in response to the EFA’s recent move to allow Zamalek to register players after arranging a payment plan for past dues.
According to a source from Al Ahly who spoke to Kooora, the club formally asked the EFA to disclose the full list of outstanding debts owed by clubs. Their aim is to ensure equal enforcement of licensing rules for both domestic and continental competitions.
“There must be transparency in the implementation of regulations regarding the issuance of licenses for local and continental participation to clubs that do not pay their financial dues, and this must be addressed by the Egyptian Football Association.”
“The schedule for settling dues with clubs must be announced, and the principles of Financial Fair Play must be followed in the Egyptian League.”
