Al Ahly president Mahmoud El Khatib inspired Egypt’s U-17 national team during a visit to their training session ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
The legendary former player met the young Pharaohs at the National Teams Center, where they are preparing for the tournament set to kick off on November 3 with a historic 48-team lineup. El Khatib was warmly welcomed by Dr. Mustafa Azzam, Executive Director of the Egyptian Football Association, Alaa Nabil, Technical Director, and head coach Ahmed Al-Kass, along with other staff members.
A source told Kooora that Al-Kass and Nabil met El Khatib informally days earlier and urged him to show support. He quickly agreed and arranged a time to meet the squad.
El Khatib told the players he would stand by them during the tournament. He also reflected on his time with the national team and encouraged the youngsters to aim high, especially with his hopes also set on Egypt’s showing in the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Egypt will face England, Venezuela, and Haiti in Group E.
