Mali’s Aliou Dieng, midfielder of Al Ahly’s first football team, is set to fly to Austria within hours to undergo knee surgery after suffering knee pain upon his return from his country’s national team camp, where he participated in the recently held Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
It has been confirmed that Dieng will be absent from Al Ahly’s matches for a month and a half after experiencing knee pain that requires minor surgery in the coming days.
The player has been ruled out from participating with Al Ahly in the match against CR Belouizdad, and he will also miss traveling with the team, which departed today to Ghana in preparation for the Medeama match in the fifth round of the group stage of the African Champions League.
Al Ahly currently leads Group Four with 6 points after their recent draw against CR Belouizdad in Algeria.
Al Ahly will play against Medeama in Ghana before concluding their group stage matches with a match against Young Africans in Tanzania.
