Al-Ahly has allowed its players and coaching staff to stay in the United States following their exit from the group stage of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup.
Notably absent from the Al-Ahly delegation were goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, Moroccan players Achraf Bencharki, Achraf Dari, Yahya Attiat Allah, Tunisian Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Palestinian Wissam Abu Ali, as well as the technical team led by Spanish coach Jose Ribeiro.
The coaching staff has given the players an 18-day break before they return to training to prepare for the upcoming season.
Reports suggest that El-Shenawy plans to spend a week of his vacation in the U.S., while Attiat Allah, Dari, and Bencharki will travel back to Morocco within 48 hours. Coach Ribeiro is expected to follow a similar schedule.
Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane will divide his vacation between the U.S. and Tunisia before heading to Cairo on July 10.
After being eliminated in the first round of the Club World Cup, Al-Ahly will return to Cairo on Wednesday at 4:00 PM. Their campaign included a goalless draw against Inter Miami, a 2-0 loss to Palmeiras, and an exciting 4-4 draw with Porto.
