Al Ahly new signing Aktai Abdullah suffers minor injury in La Viena friendly

Al Ahly’s new signing Aktai Abdullah picked up a minor injury during the club’s friendly victory over La Viena on Thursday evening as the Egyptian giants continue their preparations for the upcoming season.

The Red Devils are currently going through an intensive pre-season program under the leadership of Moroccan head coach Hussein Ammouta, with the technical staff using a series of friendly matches to evaluate the fitness levels of players, test tactical ideas and help new arrivals adapt to the team’s playing style.

Aktai Abdullah was involved in the friendly encounter against La Viena but was forced to deal with a knock during the match.

According to reports, the injury is not considered serious, with initial assessments indicating that the player suffered only a minor bruise.

Besides, there are no major concerns surrounding the midfielder’s condition, although the club has not yet announced the exact recovery period or whether he will miss upcoming training sessions and friendly fixtures.

Despite the setback, Al Ahly’s preparations have continued positively. The Egyptian champions recorded an impressive 7-1 victory over La Viena in their second friendly match of the summer, following an earlier 5-1 triumph against Al Nasr in their opening warm-up fixture.

The friendly matches form part of Ammouta’s plans to build squad cohesion and assess the readiness of both established players and new recruits ahead of a demanding campaign.

The Moroccan coach is also using the pre-season period to integrate newly signed players into the squad, allowing them to develop an understanding with their teammates and adapt to Al Ahly’s tactical approach before competitive matches begin.

Al Ahly are scheduled to play their third friendly match against Petrojet on August 5 before travelling to Spain for an overseas training camp. The camp is expected to provide further opportunities for the squad to improve physically and tactically ahead of the new season.

Aktai Abdullah joined Al Ahly during the current summer transfer window from Enppi after an impressive campaign with the petroleum club. His performances last season attracted attention from several clubs before the Red Devils secured his services on a five-year contract.
