Al Ahly monitoring Cape Verde and Rodez midfielder Jordan Mendes

Cape Verde international midfielder Jordan Mendes has emerged as a top transfer target for Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Mendes, who plies his trade for French outfit Rodez has caught the attention of several clubs including Al Ahly, as the club seeks to strengthen their midfield department following the departure of Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan.

His name has emerged among the players being considered by the Red Devils, with the club closely monitoring his situation and weighing up the possibility of making a move during the current summer transfer window.

The interest is understood to be genuine, with Al Ahly exploring the midfielder’s availability as they look to add quality and depth to their squad before the start of the new campaign.

Rodez are reportedly valuing Mendes at around €2.5 million, although the French club could demand a higher fee if formal offers arrive from interested clubs.

The midfielder still has a contract with Rodez until 2028, giving the French side a strong negotiating position should Al Ahly or another interested club make an official approach.

Al Ahly are not the only club monitoring Mendes, with French side Saint-Étienne also reportedly following the Cape Verde international and considering a move for his services.
