Al Ahly midfielder Imam Ashour hospitalized due to viral infection
Al Ahly midfielder Imam Ashour has been hospitalized for three days in Egypt after contracting a viral infection.
The Egyptian international is currently receiving treatment in an attempt to make a swift return to the team for the 2025/26 football campaign.
Having contracted the disease, players and technical team members, who had been in contact with the Ashour underwent a medical examination, as the virus is contagious.
However, none of the players and technical staff tested positive for the virus, which come as a huge boost for Al Ahly, who are currently struggling in the Egyptian top-flight.
Ashour is undergoing new medical tests and blood sample analyses every 12 hours throughout his stay in the hospital to determine whether he has been infected with the hepatitis A virus.
Meanwhile, the midfielder’s return to the Al Ahly squad will be determined in the next few hours.
The 27-year-old has made just appearances in the Egyptian Premier League after six matches into the campaign.
