Injury blow for Al-Ahly as Egyptian international Emam Ashour ruled out of Club World Cup

Emam Ashour, Al Ahly midfielder, made his first appearance at Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium after recovering from hepatitis A, following a period of isolation in hospital and at home.

Ashour participated in very light gym training after spending days walking at home.

Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, Al Ahly’s team doctor, stated, “Tests show Imam’s health is stable. He has started a gradual workload with simple training units and will complete regular check-ups as part of his recovery plan.” Ashour contracted the virus six weeks ago, which required home isolation.

Team manager Walid Salah El-Din confirmed that the medical staff vaccinated all players and staff against hepatitis A to ensure everyone’s safety. “Al Ahly always coordinates with leading healthcare providers and strictly follows medical precautions,” Salah El-Din noted.

A club source told Kooora that main reason for the vaccination initiative was Ashour’s presence around the squad before his diagnosis. The medical team emphasized Ashour will only return to full training when completely fit.

The report also mentioned defender Achraf Dari is undergoing further tests for a muscle injury, while winger Hussein El-Shahat needs at least five weeks to return to group training. Al Ahly faces Petrojet next, as the team continues its preparations for the Super Cup in the UAE.
