Al-Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour gave fans a scare after being rushed to a private hospital early Monday with severe stomach pain.
The news came just a day after he made his long-awaited return to action in the league match against Enppi, following months on the sidelines recovering from collarbone surgery.
Doctors acted quickly to check on the midfielder, who only recently pulled on the Al-Ahly shirt again. Club doctor Ahmed Gaballah visited him at the hospital and shared an update that reassured supporters worried about their star.
“Emam Ashour’s condition is stable, after a suspected gastroenteritis infection,” Gaballah confirmed.
He explained that Ashour will have more medical tests to confirm the exact problem. “The player will undergo comprehensive examinations and accurate analyses to determine the cause of the pain,” he added.
Gaballah also confirmed the midfielder would remain under medical supervision for three days. “Ashour will remain in the hospital for three days under medical observation, after which he will undergo further tests to further assess his condition.”
Al-Ahly, sitting 15th in the Egyptian League with six points from five matches, now waits for brighter news.
