Al-Ahly is reportedly considering a new proposal to resolve the ongoing situation surrounding Moroccan defender Ashraf Dari.
The club had previously removed Dari from both its domestic and African competition lists, citing the completion of its foreign player quota, which stands at five.
Under the proposed arrangement, Dari would receive a full season’s salary of $900,000 in exchange for giving up a season and a half of his contract.
The defender still has two and a half years remaining on his deal, which he signed upon joining Al-Ahly in the summer of 2024.
If the proposal goes through and Dari agrees, Al-Ahly would not be required to cover half of his salary for whichever club he moves to next. Sources indicate that several clubs have already shown interest, with some leagues still open for player registration.
Dari’s stint at Al-Ahly has been disrupted by injuries, limiting his playing time. Since his arrival from France’s Stade Brestois, he has featured in 26 matches without recording a goal or assist.
