Al Ahly linked with move for Moroccan striker Ryan Mayi
Moroccan forward Ryan Mayi has been linked with a move to Egyptian powrrhouse Al Ahly ahead of the summer transfer window.
Mayi, who currently plays for Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia, is under contract until June 30, 2027, meaning any potential deal would require formal negotiations between Al Ahly and the player’s current club.
The Moroccan striker’s name has previously been linked with the Egyptian giants. His agent, Gaius Kabongo, earlier confirmed that there had been initial contact from Al Ahly, although no official offer was submitted at that stage.
More recent updates from sources close to the player suggest that while interest remains, the situation has not progressed beyond informal enquiries. It is understood that Mayi is also considering other proposals, and any move would depend on Al Ahly submitting a concrete bid.
Al Ahly are actively exploring the market for a new foreign striker as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window, which opens in Egypt on June 21 and runs until August 5. The club is expected to strengthen its attacking department following the departure of Ailstein Kamwiss, who returned to Norwegian side Tromsø after his loan spell ended.
With squad restructuring underway, the Egyptian champions are assessing several options as they aim to finalize reinforcements before the start of next season’s campaign.
