Al Ahly keep Emam Ashour off the market after Konyaspor proposal

Al Ahly have told Turkish club Konyaspor that Emam Ashour is not available for transfer during the current summer window.

The Egyptian club confirmed its position in an official statement published on its website, saying it had sent a formal response to Konyaspor regarding its offer for the midfielder.

Konyaspor had proposed signing Ashour for $4.5m, with the fee to be paid over three years. However, Al Ahly rejected the approach and made clear that the Egypt international remains part of their plans for the 2025-26 season.

In their letter to the Turkish club, Al Ahly said: “With reference to your request to obtain the services of our player Emam Ashour for $4.5m, payable over three years, we inform you that the player is not for sale this season, and we look forward to cooperating in the future.”

The club also published an image of the letter on social media, alongside a message confirming: “Emam Ashour is not for sale.”

Ashour is under contract with Al Ahly until the summer of 2028, giving the Cairo club a strong negotiating position over his future.

He had been linked with a move to Konyaspor after making a major impression for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored twice. Konyaspor began their Turkish league campaign with a 1-0 defeat by Rizespor.

Ashour’s performances in the tournament have also attracted interest from other clubs. Saudi Arabian reports previously linked him with Al-Ittihad, while Scottish club Celtic have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

The 28-year-old joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2023 from Danish side Midtjylland. He began his career with Ghazl El Mahalla before moving to Zamalek, and has since established himself as an important player for Al Ahly.

Ashour has made 105 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 25 assists.

During his time with Al Ahly, he has won the Egyptian Premier League twice, the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian Super Cup twice, the Three Continents Cup and the CAF Champions League. He has also helped the club claim a bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Ashour scored both of Egypt’s goals at the 2026 World Cup. His first came against Belgium with a powerful strike, while his second was a header against Australia. Those performances increased attention from clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia, but Al Ahly’s official response to Konyaspor indicates that the player will remain in Egypt for the coming season.
