Egyptian football powerhouse, Al Ahly, is reportedly interested in signing Moroccan midfielder Mohamed El Arouch, a promising talent currently without a club.
The 20-year-old, who graduated from Olympique Lyonnais’ esteemed academy, has been on the hunt for a new challenge since his departure from Botafogo in September 2024.
El Arouch’s stint in Brazil was short-lived. Despite joining Botafogo earlier this year, the midfielder left without making a single appearance. Now, the Franco-Moroccan is exploring his options, and a move to Africa’s most successful club appears to be on the horizon.
According to reports by credible sources, Al Ahly is seriously considering bringing El Arouch to Cairo. The club views the young midfielder as a valuable addition to their squad ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
However, this potential signing might come at the expense of South African forward Percy Tau, whose contract could be terminated to free up space for the new recruit.
Al Ahly’s interest in El Arouch is indicative of their ambition to bolster their midfield and maintain their dominance both domestically and in continental competitions.
For El Arouch, the move presents an opportunity to revive his career and showcase his talent on one of the biggest stages in African football.
