Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta has received a boost ahead of Al Ahly’s Egyptian Premier League meeting with rivals Zamalek, with four players reportedly cleared to return to training.

Taher Mohamed Taher, Mohamed El Shenawy, Ahmed Nabil Kouka and Yasser Ibrahim have completed their treatment and rehabilitation programmes and are now medically ready to resume competitive football, according to Egyptian reports.

The update comes ahead of the sixth-round clash between Al Ahly and Zamalek.

Four players declared fit

Egyptian website Al-Watan Sport, citing media figure Khaled Al-Ghandour, reported that Al Ahly’s medical staff have informed the coaching team that the quartet are fit to return to training and potentially feature in matches.

However, their availability does not guarantee that they will be included in the squad to face Zamalek.

The final decision rests with Ammouta and his technical staff, who will assess each player’s physical and technical condition before selecting the matchday squad.

Ammouta to assess players in training

The Al Ahly coaching staff will monitor the four players during the coming training sessions as they work towards regaining full match fitness.

Their physical condition and readiness to meet the demands of a high-profile fixture will be taken into consideration before Ammouta decides whether to include them against Zamalek.

The players’ return could provide Ammouta with additional options for the eagerly anticipated league encounter, although the Al Ahly coach will have to determine whether they are ready to make their competitive comebacks in such a demanding fixture.
