Al Ahly’s preparations for their second league outing have taken a hit with the confirmed absence of defender Yasser Ibrahim.
The Red Devils face FC Pharco tonight at Cairo International Stadium, looking to bounce back after a frustrating 2-2 draw with Modern Future in their opening match.
Club doctor Ahmed Gaballah revealed that scans showed a tear in Ibrahim’s left pubic muscle. The setback means the experienced centre-back will miss the game and begin a treatment and rehabilitation program. His recovery will be monitored closely before he returns to full training.
The champions were left disappointed last week when two dropped points dented the start of their title defense. With Ibrahim out, coach Marcel Koller will need to shuffle his defense against a Pharco side aiming to spring a surprise.
Pharco opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Enppi and will travel to Cairo with hopes of frustrating the hosts once again.
