Al Ahly granted approval by CAF to celebrate 44th Premier League title on September 21
Al Ahly, the reigning champions of the Egyptian Premier League for the 2023-2024 season, have received approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officially celebrate their 44th league title on September 21. Despite securing the championship last season, the club has yet to formally commemorate their triumph.
Finishing the season with an impressive 85 points, Al Ahly dominated the league, marking their 44th Premier League victory.
However, since clinching the title, the club has not had the opportunity to celebrate their achievement.
Following a formal request to CAF, the governing body of African football granted Al Ahly the green light to hold a celebration later this month.
The title celebration is set to take place after Al Ahly’s upcoming match against Gor Mahia FC, which is part of the second leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The match will be held at Al Ahly’s home ground. In the first leg of this encounter, held in Kenya a few days prior, Marcel Koller’s squad secured a convincing 3-0 victory, placing them in a strong position to advance to the next round of the competition.
With the second leg scheduled for September 21, Al Ahly aims to not only seal their progress in the CAF Champions League but also to finally celebrate their Premier League title in front of their home fans.
The club is preparing for a dual celebration—both for their anticipated qualification to the next stage of the Champions League and the official recognition of their domestic league triumph.
This celebration will be a momentous occasion for the Red Devils, as they commemorate their 44th league title with their supporters, marking a fitting conclusion to their dominant performance in the Egyptian Premier League.
