Al Ahly have moved to shut down talk of an imminent exit for Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng, making it clear no official approach has arrived from Saudi Arabia side NEOM.
On Friday, club officials stressed they remain focused on keeping the midfielder, who has been a key figure for the Red Devils in recent years. Speaking to Kooora, an Al Ahly source explained there may have been conversations with Dieng or his representatives, but nothing formal has reached the club.
“Dieng’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and we are seeking to renew it, but the player has stipulated that he play as a starter as a condition for renewal,” the source revealed.
If any formal proposal does land, the club will first review it internally before passing it to coach Jose Riveiro for the final say.
Dieng, who spent last season on loan at Saudi club Al-Kholod, has remained a fan favorite in Cairo for his tireless work in midfield.
