Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly has imposed a one million pounds fine on midfielder Imam Ashour for reportedly mocking sporting director Mohamed Ramadan.
Ashour is said to have used his social media platform to make mockery of the sporting director of the Egyptian outfit.
He posted a picture of person at the gym, commenting, “You made me hate Ramadan, man,”
Following widespread reactions, the midfielder deleted the post on his social media platform
Many thought the midfielder was referring to his sporting director, hence the decision to inflict a hefty fine on him.
Ashour joined Al-Ahly in the summer of 2023 from outfit Danish Midtjylland, for 3.5 million euros.
Meanwhile, Ashour was absent from training on Friday morning ahead of Premier League clash against Al-Bank Al-Ahly this weekend.
The Egyptian powerhouse regrouped for training at Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium following their opening day Champions League victory in mid-week.
Ashour refused to show up at training as the team intensify preparation for the matchday four of the top-flight on Saturday. Meanwhile, reasons for his absence at training is yet to be known.
The midfielder did not feature in the Champions League clash against Stade d’Abidjan, where the Egyptian giants secure an emphatic victory last Tuesday.
The 26-year-old midfielder has made three appearances for Al Ahly this season, providing an assists across the period.
His current contract with the club is expected to expire in the summer of 2028.
