Al-Ahly has received a significant boost to its finances, with $2.5 million credited to the club from the transfer of Palestinian international Wissam Abu Ali to Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew.
The amount, calculated at the Central Bank exchange rate, represents an installment of the transfer fee agreed last summer.
The Red Castle, under the leadership of Mahmoud El Khatib, had been assured by Columbus Crew that the payment would be made on schedule.
Reports indicate that the club has now received the funds, marking a key step in replenishing Al-Ahly’s treasury.
Abu Ali’s move to the American side last summer was valued at $7.5 million, making it one of the largest transfers in Egyptian league history.
Meanwhile, Al-Ahly, coached by Danish manager Jess Torop, is preparing for a rescheduled league clash against Ismaily on Wednesday, part of the postponed 14th round.
The club sits fourth in the Egyptian Premier League with 27 points from 14 matches, while leaders Ceramica Cleopatra top the table with 35 points.
