Al Ahly faces major setback as injury crisis deepens
Egyptian football giants Al Ahly are grappling with another major blow, as star winger Hussein El-Shahat is set to miss up to two months due to a significant injury suffered during the tenth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Team doctor Ahmed Gaballah explained, “The player suffers from a tear in the hamstring tendon, confirmed by medical scans. His rehabilitation process will require at least seven weeks.” El-Shahat has already started his recovery regimen, hoping to return before the year ends, barring any setbacks.
A source inside the club told Kooora that the absence could stretch to the full two months, depending on El-Shahat’s progress, further straining a squad grappling with a spate of muscular injuries. Seven players were already unavailable for the recent clash against rivals Zamalek, including Mohamed Shokry, Ashraf Dari, Karim Fouad, Ahmed Zizo, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Nejr Gardicar, and Emam Ashour.
The mounting injuries have triggered anger within the club, with many questioning the sports science and nutrition teams. The technical staff is especially concerned about ongoing muscular issues, prompting a comprehensive internal investigation.
Club officials are now reconsidering their fitness strategies, including hiring foreign experts and revamping their medical structure.
