Al Ahly extend Mostafa Shobeir’s contract until 2029

Al Ahly have officially extended goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir’s contract until 2029, confirming a deal previously reported by FilGoal.com.

The Egyptian club have also agreed the financial terms of the new contract, with Shobeir set to earn an annual salary of 25m Egyptian pounds.

The agreement includes a further 10m Egyptian pounds in bonuses linked to winning trophies with Al Ahly. Shobeir will also receive 70% of the value of any advertisement he brings to the club, with Al Ahly retaining the remaining 30%.

That arrangement is subject to the advertisement not conflicting with any of the club’s existing sponsors.

The contract extension makes Shobeir the fourth Al Ahly player to renew his deal in recent weeks, following Imam Ashour, Marwan Attia and Omar Sayed Moawad.

Shobeir, 26, has made 72 appearances for Al Ahly, keeping 39 clean sheets and conceding 46 goals during his time with the club.

His performances have also seen him play an important role for Egypt. Shobeir helped the national side reach the last 16 of the World Cup, where they were eliminated by Argentina after a 3-2 defeat.

The goalkeeper produced an impressive display during the tournament, saving two penalties. One was taken by Iran forward Mehdi Taremi during the group stage, while the other came from Argentina captain and star player Lionel Messi in the last-16 match.

The new agreement represents the latest step in Shobeir’s continued development at Al Ahly. His renewal follows the club’s decisions to secure the futures of several other members of the squad, with Ashour, Attia and Moawad also committing themselves to new contracts.
