Al Ahly escape sanctions as EFA hits Zamalek, Zed, and Pyramids
The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association has confirmed a wide range of disciplinary decisions from matchday 20 of the 2025–2026 Egyptian Premier League, with Zamalek, Zed FC, and Pyramids all punished while Ahly avoided direct sanctions on their players.
After Ahly’s 1–1 draw with Zed, four Zed players were suspended for one match each due to receiving a third yellow card, and the club was fined 50,000 Egyptian pounds for accumulating six bookings in the same game. No penalties were issued against Ahly’s players from that fixture.
Zamalek’s 1–0 win over Pyramids also came at a cost, as goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi was banned for one match for his third yellow card, and the club was fined 10,000 pounds for delaying their entry onto the pitch before kick-off.
Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurčić received a warning and a 20,000-pound fine for failing to attend the post-match press conference, while player Ahmed Atef “Qetta” was suspended for a third booking.
The heaviest sanctions fell on Ghazl El Mahalla and Al Ittihad, including touchline bans, crowd sanctions and financial penalties for abusive chants, attempted aggression towards the referee and throwing objects onto the pitch.
