Al Ahly has been dealt a setback as both Taher Mohamed Taher and Omar Kamal Abdel Wahid have been ruled out of the highly anticipated Cairo derby due to injury.
The Red Giants are set to take on arch-rivals Zamalek today at Cairo International Stadium in a crucial Egyptian Premier League fixture.
A club insider revealed to Kooora, “Taher Mohamed Taher was initially recovering from a knee issue, but his latest setback is a posterior muscle strain.”
The insider also added, “Omar Kamal Abdel Wahid is experiencing discomfort in his posterior muscle and will undergo scans to assess the extent of his absence, especially since he only returned two days ago from another muscle injury.”
Meanwhile, Yahya Atallah and Yasser Ibrahim are expected to return to group training within a week, though the coaching staff is in no rush, considering the upcoming international break in March.
Al Ahly currently leads the league standings with 32 points, holding a five-point advantage over third-placed Zamalek.
Al Ahly has won four in their last five games while Zamalek has won three.
