After parting ways with Marcel Koller, Al Ahly’s technical committee has laid out three strict rules in its search for a new head coach.
The Cairo giants are determined to land a candidate who fits their clear vision.
Talks were held with German tactician Marco Rose, previously with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, but the club backed off when it became clear he preferred to stay in Europe. A club source confirmed that the discussions didn’t go beyond initial contact.
“There are specific rules by which the coach who will lead the team will be contracted, including his previous work with clubs and not national teams,” the source told Kooora.
“It was also agreed that the coach must have stable experiences of more than two years with the clubs he worked for, in addition to setting a maximum of 300,000 dollars or euros as a monthly salary.”
Koller’s departure followed Al Ahly’s elimination from the CAF Champions League semi-finals at the hands of South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
