Al-Ahly board member Ahmed Hossam Awad has denied reports that Ahmed Sayed Zizo’s contract with the Egyptian champions is worth 90m or 100m Egyptian pounds.
Awad said the figures circulating about the forward’s deal were inaccurate and urged those discussing the contract to provide official documentation to support their claims.
“Zizo is one of the most important players at Al-Ahly, and he is a very professional player,” Awad told Al-Nahar television.
“There was a technical desire from the coaching staff to sign him, and we presented his name to them before moving ahead with the deal.”
Awad also highlighted the importance of assessing a player’s commercial and advertising potential when negotiating transfers, arguing that such factors can generate additional revenue for clubs.
“Zizo’s commercial value is very high, and Al-Ahly should be an example of how to increase returns through the commercial value of players,” he said.
The board member insisted that the forward’s contract was worth significantly less than the figures being reported.
“The player’s contract did not reach 100m or 90m Egyptian pounds, and these figures are not close,” he added.
The deal has also attracted attention over reports that Zizo’s contract was registered with the Egyptian Football Association at a value of 5m Egyptian pounds.
Responding to the controversy, Awad defended the club’s approach, saying his responsibilities differed from those of the coaching staff, whose primary focus is on performances on the pitch.
He also claimed that Al-Ahly paid the highest financial taxes in Egypt’s history on Zizo’s contract, describing it as a detail that many people were unaware of.
Zizo joined Al-Ahly after leaving Zamalek, the club’s Cairo rivals, in a high-profile move that generated significant interest among Egyptian football supporters.
