Al Ahly deny rift between Hussein Ammouta and Mohamed Hany after Al-Qanah clash
Al Ahly have moved to dismiss reports of a disagreement between head coach Hussein Ammouta and defender Mohamed Hany following their touchline exchange during the Egyptian Premier League encounter against Al-Qanah.
As per sources, the incident was nothing more than a routine technical discussion, with no underlying tension between the two parties despite speculation surrounding their interaction during the match.
The exchange reportedly centred on Ammouta’s instructions to Hany regarding his defensive positioning, covering movements and how to handle one-on-one situations against opposing attackers.
Hany is said to have responded to the coach’s instructions while attempting to explain his perspective, a reaction that apparently gave the impression of a disagreement between the pair.
However, sources close to the club insist that the interaction should not be interpreted as a rift, stressing that such exchanges are a normal part of the game as coaches seek to correct mistakes and improve their players’ performances.
Ammouta also played down suggestions of a disagreement with Hany during his post-match press conference, further reinforcing the club’s position that there is no crisis between the coach and the defender.
Hany remains an important figure in the Al Ahly dressing room, with his leadership role within the squad underscoring the strong relationship between the player and the club.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly have resumed training without a break following their 3-3 draw against Al-Qanah in the Egyptian Premier League as they turn their attention to their upcoming continental assignment.
The Red Devils are preparing for the return leg of their CAF Confederation Cup Round of 32 tie against Uganda’s Kitara FC, with the technical team eager to secure qualification and maintain the club’s ambitions in the competition.
The return fixture is scheduled to take place at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday at 7:00 pm, with Al Ahly carrying a 2-1 advantage from the first leg. Omar El-Saiy and Ahmed Sayed Zizo scored for the Egyptian side in that encounter.
With qualification at stake, Al Ahly will be keen to deliver a convincing performance and avoid any setbacks as they look to progress to the next round.
