Al Ahly has dismissed claims that it is in talks with South African coach Pitso Mosimane to replace José Ribeiro.
The Spanish manager has come under intense criticism following the poor start in the ongoing Egyptian Premier League.
However, a club source has revealed that reports of Mosimane returning to lead the team are “completely untrue.”
“Mosimane’s chapter with us is closed,” the source told Kooora.
“He is an exceptional coach, but Al Ahly has full confidence in José Ribeiro, our current manager,” he added.
The source added that the club has not approached any other coaches nor sought nominations, emphasising that speculation from agents should not be taken as fact.
Under Riveiro, who replaced Marcel Koller, Al Ahly has struggled to find form, securing just one win in six official matches and accumulating five points from the first three rounds of the Egyptian Premier League.
Ahly will hope to return to winning ways when they host Pyramids FC at teh Cairo International Stadium this weekend, having been held to a goalless draw against Ghazl El Mahalla SC last weekend.
