Al Ahly has issued a strong message to Ramy Rabia and Hamza Alaa, signaling that their places in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup squad are in danger if they don’t settle contract disputes soon.
The club has frozen talks with the defender and goalkeeper as it pushes to stay focused on the Egyptian League title race.
While Al Ahly recently renewed deals with Mohamed El Shenawy and Yasser Ibrahim, talks with Rabia and Alaa hit a wall. A club source told Kooora the delay isn’t just due to match congestion but also stems from the players’ demands for bigger contracts.
“Rabia had agreed to EGP 20 million a season plus advertising bonuses, but then asked for EGP 30 million. Management countered with 25 million, but he wanted more time,” the source said.
Alaa reportedly wants a higher wage than current second-choice keeper Mustafa Shoubair, a demand the club finds excessive.
Al Ahly plans to revisit talks after Saturday’s game against Al Ahly Bank, calling it the final opportunity for a deal before firm decisions are made.
