Al Ahly SC defender Yassin Marei has begun an intensive rehabilitation programme after suffering an adductor muscle injury.

The centre-back is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of the club’s medical team as part of a recovery plan aimed at easing pain and restoring his physical condition ahead of a return to full training in the coming weeks.

Marei sustained the injury during Al Ahly’s Egyptian Premier League clash against Smouha SC.

The defender was forced off in the 18th minute after experiencing sharp discomfort and was replaced by teammate Hadi Riad.

Subsequent medical tests and scans confirmed that Marei suffered a tear at the origin of the adductor muscle tendon, an injury expected to sideline him for between three and four weeks.

The setback ruled the defender out of Al Ahly’s recent encounter with Espérance Sportive de Tunis in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

He will continue his rehabilitation programme until he regains full fitness and is cleared to rejoin the team in training.
